On Soldiers

Journal Entry: Fri Oct 23, 2009, 12:21 PM

It's amazing to see young men with enough pain to fill a lifetime and to get them to share the multitudes of ways it affects them.

I don't think what they fight for is a lie. Our politicians lie but, these men fight for humankind.

There is only one way we can possibly repay the soldiers.

They lay their lives on the line for the betterment of humanity.

We can devote our lives to bettering humanity until they don't have to give their lives.

5D mk II firmware 1.10

Journal Entry: Mon Jun 1, 2009, 11:40 PM

5D mk II firmware 1.10 is out. And it rocks.

Remember, put the CF card into your camera and format it. Then make sure you have a FULL batter in the camera.

Go to the menu, select where it says what version of firmware you have. Press select, hit ok, and DONT TOUCH ANY BUTTONS!

Give it like 4 min. And *joygasm*!

Nikon D5000

Journal Entry: Tue Apr 14, 2009, 1:58 PM

Nikon D5000 is here. Ugly name. Ugly camera. Nice features.

I would not recommend it. Simply because it has only 1 command dial, making it difficult to operate in manual mode. The inability to operate it easily in manual is the biggest reason I cant see serious amateurs using it.

Just to add my opinion on all the rumors, here we go.

D300 is next in line to be replaced. Guessing mid to late summer. It will NOT be FX. It will probably be 14.X, maybe low 15 MP. Then late in the year the D700X will drop with a D3x sensor in a body that has been hampered in other ways so as to not quite directly compete with the D3x.

The D100/D200/D300 line will remain DX indefinitely. The D700/D700X line will be the FX pro backup bodies.

So since my last update, I have been admitted to the Brooks Institute of Photography, moved to Santa Barbara, and then today at orientation I got to play with a Nikon D3 and D3x. Both are fine cameras if I do say so myself. Also, I bought a Canon 5D mk II and 24-70 f/2.8 which is a mighty fine combo if I do say so myself. So its been kind of a camera orgasm lately in my world. Now I'm just waiting for classes to begin.
